I'm guessing that there's a ladder stored elsewhere that hooks onto that bar. Maybe hangs on a wall or inside a closet and could be foldable. Efficient use of a small space and fun!

This a micro house, part of the tiny home movement. While not for everyone it is a fascinating concept for people who wish to live a deliberate, eco-friendly life with all the basic creature comforts.

If you can rid yourself of most processions (and I mean MOST!) it offers freedom from a mortgage, very few and very low bills as well as complete mobility (these tiny homes are built on a tow trailer frame).

Looks like it would be low stress living, perfect for an active single person...but very, very tight quarters for 2.

This might work some places, but unless you have a really good A/C, I cant see it working in hot climates. As heat rises, sleeping right nest to the roof would be really uncomfortable. Neat idea though ...

What do you do when you have a backache?

I like the idea but I know it would be stuffy trying to sleep up in the rafters like that. I need fresh air when I sleep.

A friend of mine had a bed like that in his room at college. He had it counterweighted and on rollers so it could be raised and lowered at will. Up for storage in the day and down at night for use.

Could be a deathtrap... Doesn't give you a whole lot of time in case of fire... smoke and flames could find you quickly.

Sorry, I would feel as though I were sleeping in a coffin. Personally, I prefer Downton Abbey.

My only concerns are going to bed drunk and having to wake up to go use the loo.

I think you have to do a muscle up (google it) on the bar at the foot of the bed to get in. The raised bed concept doesn't just need to work in tiny homes. Ordinary sized homes can use the idea and fit more into a room. A desk or bookshelf for instance could fit underneath to save room in the study/spare room. When I was younger I used to have a bed that was fixed to the wall on 3 corners and a wire went into the loft for the 4th corner. I had stacks of storage under the bed and used a movable ladder to get in/out.
