Manta

with 1 comments
This is an electric amphibious vehicle and it was designed by David Cardoso Loureiro for the Michelin Challenge Design competition. This three-wheeler concept can hold only one person. Two electric motors power each rear wheel independently on water and while driving on land. As we all have seen, many car tires look like propellers. Well, here is what exactly they are – on land they’re wheels, but when the vehicle get into the water, they change their direction perpendicularly and turn into propellers which is the source of propulsion in water. The exact details, like power, batteries life duration, type of steering system in water, were not mentioned. So we can enjoy the imagination of the designer only. But this is a virtually created conceptual vehicle and probably even David Loureiro doesn’t know these details.
As we see, Manta would not be the fastest boat or the fastest car, but it looks like a good combination of both. If you live near lake or river, this vehicle will probably be a good solution for your traveling.

As good as this thing looks, having a trike with one wheel at the front and two at the back is never a good idea.

Prone to tipping over in a corner.
