The blade's bottom edge is 22X thicker than a typical shovel's, mitigating friction so the hand plow glides over sidewalk seams, brick pathways, or deck boards. The thick bottom edge also allows you to skim through deep snow and remove it in more manageable horizontal layers, unlike typical shovels that plunge to the ground and force you to heave large, unwieldy amounts. The blade and handle are made from corrosion-resistant aluminum.
