Provided the tension will not snap the string from the bag
two problems with this design:
- hard to keep it clean
- If the user tilts the full mug backwards, hot tea will pour onto the hand triggering the hand to open and drop the mug on the floor... crash!
Look beyond the childish delight of such a clever little gimmick, here again is a piece of contemporary design which reinforces the cycle to instil desire for the unnecessary. It exemplifies the real issue we face. Here we take the humble cup of tea, reinforcing the need for wasteful funky teabags (x billions of them).
So much time, learning and effort involved in this. Take a look around at the problems this planet faces and ask yourself if indeed you are part of the solution.
As designers, we really need to progress past this.
It is something like
"a kid and his mom were searching all over the house for the landline handset. The son turns to his mother and says "why doesnt someone invent a phone which stays connected to the charger/dialpad"
